Student Arrested for Threatening Students and the Alva School

On January 11th, 2020, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of an Instagram post that appeared to directly threaten specific students and the Alva School.

The Youth Services Division was notified and through investigative leads it was discovered that the writer of the threats was Dylan Lee (3/16/2006).

After conducting interviews and gathering evidence, detectives established probable cause to arrest and charge Lee with three counts of Written Threat to Kill and Conduct a Mass Shooting as defined in Florida State Statute 863.10.

“My top priority is the safety and security of our students and schools,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno.

“I’m very proud of the work of our Youth Services Division in quickly assessing this threat, and taking action to stop it.”
