Holiday Shoplifters Behind Bars

On December 11, 2019, as part of Sheriff Carmine Marceno’s holiday shopping safety initiative, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling Miromar Outlets in Estero, Florida. While there, deputies received information in reference to shoplifting suspects retreating to a parked vehicle.

While canvassing the parking lot, deputies located a red Toyota Camry, matching the description of the suspect vehicle, parked illegally in a handicap spot. Deputies made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, who were later identified as Antavia Hernandez (DOB 12/27/2000), Keshanda Walker (4/9/1997), Jasmine Battle (DOB 1/10/1993) and Ednisha Wingate (DOB 5/4/2001).

The investigation revealed that Hernandez, Walker, Battle and Wingate stole numerous items from the Vans store, located in Miromar Outlets, and Victoria’s Secret PINK, located in Coconut Point. In total, over nine hundred dollars’ worth of merchandise was stolen and found in their vehicle.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Hernandez, Walker, Battle and Wingate were all subsequently arrested and charged with Larceny.

These arrests are directly related to Sheriff Carmine Marceno’s holiday safety initiative implemented to ensure safe shopping and safe travel. Sheriff Marceno has increased deputy presence, positioned numerous observation towers on mall properties and opened two satellite offices in both Miromar Outlets and Bell Tower.

The safety and security of Lee County residents and guests are the Sheriff’s priority.

“I won’t tolerate thieves targeting our shopping malls at any time of the year, especially during the holidays,” stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “I am devoting additional resources so that hardworking citizens feel safe while they shop.”
