FMPD Holds Respect for Law Camp Graduation Ceremony

The Fort Myers Police Department celebrated the 30th Annual Respect for Law Camp yesterday with a graduation ceremony at Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School.

Seventy-six campers between the ages of 11 and 14 attended the 4-day, 3-night camp and participated in activities that included S.W.A.T. Team and K-9 Unit demonstrations, emergency vehicle displays, parade drills, first aid instruction, crime scene investigation, dodge ball and more.

Campers experienced the challenges and expectations that come with being a member of law enforcement in a fun and exciting camp atmosphere.

The event culminated with a drill-off demonstration by the 5 different platoons in front of parents, family, dignitaries, and FMPD command staff.

This year marked the 30th anniversary for the camp with outstanding students being recognized with awards for leadership skills and accomplishments.
