On Friday, May 10, 2019, Lee County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit Detectives responded to a residence in North Fort Myers, in reference to a past occurred sex crime.
The juvenile victim disclosed that the suspect, Jesse Alan Dampier (DOB 03-10-94), had sexually assaulted her by touching her inappropriately. The victim also revealed that Dampier told her not to tell anyone about what happened.
Dampier fled the scene and deputies tirelessly searched the area. They responded to Dampier’s residence and found him hiding inside a dimly lit room in the home. He proceeded to ignore deputies’ commands and then quickly brandished a long knife. Dampier charged at one of the deputies with the knife. The deputy jumped back and was forced to draw her duty weapon. Dampier continued to ignore commands from the deputy and ran out a back door of the residence.
Deputies and K9s continuously searched for Dampier throughout the night. He was found in a wooded area of North Fort Myers with minor injuries. He was questioned by detectives and then transported to the Lee County Jail without incident.
Jesse Alan Dampier was charged with Capital Sexual Battery and Aggravated Assault on an Officer.
“This monster is off the streets due to the hard work of our deputies and detectives,” said Sheriff Carmine Marceno. “We strive every day to be the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves and protect the most innocent among us. In this case, a child is now safe and their attacker is behind bars, where he belongs.”
