On Thursday November 15,2018, at approximately 1 p.m., the Fort Myers Police Department was contacted by a resident of Alhambra Drive. They were told that a young male with a bicycle was seen looking thru the front door of a neighbor’s house. The witness said the male suspect then hid his bike in bushes on the side of the house and entered the fenced back yard.
FMPD officers arrived on the scene and were flagged down by a neighbor. The neighbor stated the suspect was still in the back yard. Officers secured the area and then heard a crash from the back of the house. They discovered that the back slider had been completely shattered and that forced entry to the home had occurred. The suspect fled on foot traveling west on Alhambra to McGregor Boulevard with officers in pursuit. He was taken into custody.
The suspect was later identified as Lewis Ladson (DOB 4/6/2002.) Upon conducting a search, officers found jewelry and other items on his person which had been taken from the residence. Officers discovered that the suspect had smashed in the rear slider door with a brick. Upon clearing the home, FMPD determined Ladson had worked alone.
Ladson was placed under arrest. He was charged with Burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, Grand Theft Larceny, Property Damage, Criminal Mischief and Resisting an officer without violence. He was then transported to the to the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center.
