HELPING KIDS WITH CANCER RADIOTHON A SUCCESS FOR BARBARA’S FRIENDS
The Southwest Florida community joined together on Jan. 12 during the 16th annual ‘Helping Kids With Cancer’ Radiothon and showed their support of Barbara’s Friends – Golisano Children’s Hospital Cancer Fund. Supporters included Mel’s Diner, current and past Golisano Children’s Hospital patients and their families, Commissioner Cecil L Pendergrass, Chairman Lee County Board of County Commissioners District 2, Florida Chapter Club Managers Association, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals Florida Gulf Coast Chapter, and representatives from Lee Health including pediatric oncology nurses, among others.

On this annual day of giving, the 12-hour “Helping Kids with Cancer” Radiothon aired on Cat Country 107.1 with a live broadcast from Mel’s Diner in Fort Myers, and showcased the positive impact Barbara’s Friends and the Kimmie’s Angels Assistance Program
has on the lives of children and families while raising funds for the pediatric oncology program at Golisano Children’s Hospital.

To close out the event, Barbara’s Friends chair, Al Kinkle, recognized gifts totaling more than $173,000 including sponsorships, direct donations and proceeds from events leading up to the Radiothon. Donations raised during the annual radiothon event total just under $2 million since commencement. Those who would like to donate can still call in to 1-866-609-KIDS or visit BarbarasFriends.org.
